About Us
Montana Monster Munchies started over 20 years ago in the kitchen of the company’s founder in Livingston, Montana. The key ingredient in the company’s recipe for success can be attributed to its focus on the cookie’s simple all natural goodness.
Today, Montana Monster Munchies continues to bake mouth watering cookies in an FDA licensed and inspected, wheat free facility. "The cookies taste so good they practically sell themselves" is a popular customer refrain and best sums up the loyal following the cookie has developed. Millions of cookies later, the company continues to thrive in the mail order and wholesale markets. Montana Monster Munchies are available coast to coast • Mail order in 50 states, APO, FPO, & Guam • Specialty retail in 25 states • Recognized customers: • Whole Foods Market (Fortune best company to work for) • Xanterra (Largest national park concessionaire) • California Parks Companies (Largest state park concessionaire) Gluten-Free Information About Us Montana Monster Munchies Announces New Gluten-Free Legacy Valley branded All-Natural Cookies and Oat Products. On January 8th, Montana Monster Munchies, LLC (MMM) food production facility was certified gluten-free (GF) by the Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG) of Auburn, Washington. A version of its acclaimed oat-based packaged cookie joins the ranks of the GF-portfolio as do a number of newly certified gluten free products such as quick and regular rolled oats in various packaging formats designed to meet the needs of its diverse customer base. “We have always produced our cookies in an FDA inspected wheat-free manufacturing facility, and the recipe has not changed since the company’s inception in the early 1980’s,” Cathy Powell, the company’s General Partner and Food Facility Production Chief stated and who went on to describe how the company embarked over the past two years on an exercise to qualify and broadcast the wholesome attributes of the cookie. “Identifying the gluten attributes of the cookie was the logical next step for us.” We now use a certified gluten-free oat for our Legacy Valley Gluten-Free line of products. MMM more than satisfied the gluten trace amounts standards required for certification. Such tests measure the amount of gluten found in a food product, and the scale of measurement is defined in terms of parts per million (ppm). The recognized standards are: • FDA: <20 ppm: proposed as “gluten-free” • GIG: <10 ppm: certified as “gluten-free” The Gluten-Free (GF) market is a high growth market. Natural Foods Merchandiser Magazine reports that 1300 GF-products were introduced in 2008 while 987 will be introduced this year. The GF-market grew 18% from the period 2/07 – 2/08 to exceed $1 billion. 1 in 133 Americans are afflicted with celiac disease, and Oprah Winfrey has showcased the gluten-free diet on her syndicated talk show. While there may be a number of GF-oatmeal like wannabe long life packaged cookie products on the market, MMM offers the first Real McCoy GF-oatmeal cookie as well as oatmeal for the consumer. Montana Monster Munchies produces all-natural, pre-packaged cookie and oat products and can be found nationwide in select natural food stores, specialty food stores, cooperative groceries, national grocers, convenience stores, coffee houses, universities, national and state parks. It does so via its branded line as well as private label packaging. The company sells through a network of distributors, direct to store and through its on-line store.
